Edith
is a visiting consultant and she first came in the public
limelight as Malawi Broadcasting Corporation’s (MBC) prolific
investigative reporter at the dawn of democracy in Malawi
in the early 1990s.
At the
beginning of her career she worked with the Malawi News Agency
(MANA) in 1989 before joining MBC’s News and Current Affairs
Department in 1990. In 2000 she joined the Development Broadcasting
Unit (DBU) as a radio listening club facilitator. During her
three-year stay at the DBU she became a development journalist
and was responsible for facilitating a network of radio listening
clubs through community mobilization and training of rural
communities in the Southern region of Malawi. She was also
responsible for linking communities with service providers
using radio as tool for development.
Her role
in MCF is to provide support in communication related initiatives.
Currently she holds a diploma in Development Journalism from
the Indian Institute of Mass Communication acquired in 1999.She is currently studying for a BA in Journalism at the University of Malawi.
She has also attended various courses such as Training of
Trainers (TOT); Development Journalism; Fundraising; Public
relations; radio production and gender.
