Programme in 1996 for close to three years. He later joined the Capacity

funds for development projects. As a project management consultant for
Radio for Development (RfD), Mavuto acted as its internal OD consultant
responsible for leading the change and expansion process for its initiative
at the Development Broadcasting Unit (DBU) at the Malawi Broadcasting
Corporation (MBC). From the year 2000 he managed the DBU as a single-donor
project, but within three (3) years expanded it to the level of an established
institution simultaneously running several multiple-donor projects and
partnerships. This also resulted in handling bigger project budgets.

Africa for its New Technology Programme, responsible for supporting the

through provision of equipment, modern ICTs and training. His interaction
with NGOs has seen him working with a number of sectors including human
rights; HIV and AIDS; Environment; Gender and Media. He also writes regularly
on topical issues in OD and social development, and has contributed articles
to both national and international publications.
Mavuto Kapyepye also sits on a number of boards for youth
NGOs in Malawi for which he has assisted in initiating community projects
and fundraising. His membership includes the Media Institute of Southern
Africa (MISA) Malawi; and the Civil Society Committee on the Future of
ADMARC, Malawi's grain marketing board.
